An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Director of Digital, Data, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence to join the organisation’s senior leadership team and lead the next phase of its digital and transformation strategy. Red Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a highly respected, long-established membership organisation based in Central London.

Overview

As Director of Digital, Data, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence, you will provide strategic leadership across digital, data, technology and artificial intelligence services, ensuring these functions fully support the organisation’s objectives and deliver meaningful value to members, stakeholders and employees. Reporting to the Chief Executive and working as part of the Executive and Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering the organisation’s digital, data and artificial intelligence strategy. You will lead a broad portfolio of transformation activity, including systems modernisation, digital platforms, data governance, cyber security and the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence.

This role requires a balance of strategic vision and practical delivery. You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation to identify opportunities for improvement, streamline processes, strengthen insight and ensure technology and artificial intelligence are used safely, effectively and responsibly. You will also be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing multidisciplinary team, managing key suppliers and ensuring strong governance, risk management and compliance across all digital, data and technology services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and deliver the organisation’s digital, data, technology and artificial intelligence strategy
    • Provide strategic advice to the Chief Executive, Executive Team, Board and Committees
    • Identify opportunities to improve services, decision-making and efficiency through digital tools, data and artificial intelligence
    • Promote a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and responsible use of emerging technologies
  • Digital, Technology and Artificial Intelligence Delivery
    • Lead all digital, data and technology services across the organisation
    • Oversee systems modernisation, infrastructure development and digital platform improvement
    • Lead major transformation programmes, including the adoption of artificial intelligence and automation tools
    • Ensure services are user-focused, efficient and continuously improved
    • Maintain robust business continuity and operational resilience arrangements
  • Data, Insight and Artificial Intelligence
    • Develop and maintain strong data governance frameworks, policies and standards
    • Strengthen organisational use of data to support insight, reporting and decision-making
    • Champion the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence
    • Support the development of predictive insight and data-led decision tools
    • Ensure compliance with data protection, information governance and ethical artificial intelligence principles
  • Cyber Security, Risk and Governance
    • Provide leadership on cyber security strategy and digital risk management
    • Ensure appropriate governance arrangements are in place across digital, data and artificial intelligence
    • Oversee compliance with relevant legislation, standards and best practice
    • Manage organisational risk relating to technology, data and artificial intelligence
  • Leadership and People Management
    • Lead, develop and support a multidisciplinary digital, data, technology and artificial intelligence team
    • Build capability and confidence across the organisation in the use of digital tools and data
    • Promote responsible adoption of artificial intelligence across teams and functions
    • Support workforce planning, succession planning and capability development
  • Financial and Supplier Management
    • Manage budgets across digital, data, technology and artificial intelligence portfolios
    • Oversee procurement and supplier relationships for key systems and services
    • Ensure value for money and effective contract performance
    • Support investment decisions through data and business case development

About You

You will be an experienced senior digital and technology leader with a strong track record of delivering transformation and change in complex organisations. You will be confident operating at executive level, influencing senior stakeholders and leading strategic programmes from design through to delivery.

  • Significant experience in a senior digital, data technology leadership role
  • Experience reporting to executive teams, boards or governance committees
  • Proven track record of delivering digital and technology transformation programmes
  • Strong understanding of systems, infrastructure, digital platforms and data management
  • Experience of cyber security, governance and risk management
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams through change and development
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience managing budgets, suppliers and procurement activity
  • Understanding of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies and their practical application
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience gained within a membership organisation, professional body, charity or not-for-profit environment
  • Knowledge of customer relationship management systems, membership systems and digital engagement platforms
  • Experience leading data strategy and business intelligence initiatives
