What we do

In our EMEA L&D business unit, we work on diverse projects spanning the entire drug brand lifecycle, from pre-launch to post-launch, for leading healthcare clients. We develop learning materials for a range of audiences, including Commercial (e.g. Sales Representatives), Medical (e.g. Medical Science Liaisons) and more. Our focus is on delivering robust scientific and product knowledge while equipping teams with the skills to effectively communicate this information to healthcare professionals.

Deliverables can range from full product-launch curricula to individual learning assets, including:

  • Asynchronous e-learning modules
  • Instructor-led live and virtual training (e.g. workshops)
  • Print modules and infographics
  • Simulations and virtual preceptorships
  • Videos
  • Podcasts
  • Medical/scientific narratives
  • Speaker slide decks

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Instructional Designer to join our content team in London, playing a crucial role in leading and driving content design and development across our EMEA business. Working as part of a cross-functional team of Medical Writers, Instructional Designers, Graphic Designers and Client Services Leads, you will be responsible for analysing our clients’ learning needs and translating these into instructionally robust learning programmes based on scientific and skills-based content. The position requires an experienced L&D professional who can balance creativity with strategic client partnership to create effective and engaging learning solutions that deliver on our clients’ strategic objectives and ultimately improve patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

Learning Design

  • Partner with clients and subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand their strategic needs and craft tailored learning solutions that meet these needs
  • Design and develop blended curricula and associated instructional materials, including eLearning, workshops, simulations, infographics, videos, animations, podcasts, slide decks and more
  • Apply instructional design principles and adult learning theories to ensure effective knowledge transfer
  • Recommend and deliver strategies to evaluate learning effectiveness, such as through assessments, feedback, coaching and business analytics

Content creation

  • Write compelling scientific and skills-based learning content in line with defined learning objectives and client goals
  • Collaborate with internal Client Services Leads, Medical Writers, Graphic Designers, Editors and Programmers to create engaging content that is high quality and scientifically accurate

New business

  • Contribute to the development of new business proposals, ideating and communicating creative, innovative solutions that meet client needs
  • Contribute to the presentation of pitches to win new business

Process and quality assurance

  • Maintain accurate and high-quality output from the instructional design team through reviews, appropriate training and championing internal processes and best practices
  • Mentor and review the work of junior members of the content team, with the potential for future line management

About you

  • Experience: 4+ years in instructional design, with agency or consultancy experience preferred
  • Industry knowledge: Strong understanding of the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry, or medical communications/scientific education landscape
  • Education: A BSc degree or higher in a relevant scientific field, such as Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, Life Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related discipline. A higher degree (MSc, PhD) is a bonus
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (primarily PowerPoint) for storyboarding. A working knowledge of common authoring tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline/Rise) and Learning Management Systems is advantageous
  • Time management: Ability to manage multiple client projects, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment
  • Written communication: Exceptional written (and verbal) communication skills, to distil complex scientific and skills-based content into a compelling narrative
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to engage with clients, SMEs, and internal teams
  • Learning mindset: Ability to quickly get up to speed with new or unfamiliar scientific content
  • Creativity and curiosity: Ability to ideate and execute engaging, creative and innovative learning solutions across a range of modalities, and to efficiently solve project-based challenges
  • Mentorship: Experience of mentoring junior team members, or direct line management, is advantageous
  • Quality excellence: Passion for robust L&D and scientific communication, with an ambition to consistently meet and exceed client expectations and an ability to implement constructive feedback from internal and external stakeholders
