Site Engineer/Operative for Leading Waste Management Company
Are you prepared for an immersive, hands-on engineering role? Our client is seeking a skilled and proactive Site-Based Engineer to join the team.
Role Overview:
Salary: Up to 28-33k, plus expenses and mileage allowance
Location: St Helens and surrounding areas
Mainly site-based with travel across the UK, including overnight stays
Schedule: 5 days a week on-site
Previous Job Titles (inclusive of): Mechanical Engineer, Plant Fitter, Maintenance Technician, Fitter, Service Engineer, Site Engineer
Previous Industries: Heavy Industry, Quarry, Construction, Recycling, Industrial Services, Demolition, Aggregates, Mining, Landfill, Manufacturing, MRF, Waste Management, or any sector involving large static or mobile plant equipment
Responsibilities

- Operational involvement and hands-on work within the site team
- Supervising on-site operations and subcontractors
- Monitoring soil sampling and overseeing remediation technologies
- Assisting with smaller project management
- Ensuring site compliance with H&S and Environmental legislation
Additional Duties
- Managing safety systems maintenance and calibration
- Overseeing subcontractors and compliance
- Contributing to site productivity enhancements
- Conducting sample analyses and movement requests
- Leading daily team meetings and briefings
- Maintaining stock records and monthly figures
- Handling movement paperwork and documentation
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering
- NVQ, Degree, or equivalent in Engineering or related field
- Practical experience in site-based engineering roles
- Strong knowledge of H&S and Environmental legislation
- Ability to manage teams and subcontractors effectively
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
