Act as Red Kite’s internal technical counterpart to the housing system supplier, providing technical assurance over proposed designs, configuration, statements of work, technical specifications and integration designs. This includes identifying risks, assumptions and gaps; ensuring alignment with Red Kite’s long‑term objectives, architectural principles and Microsoft best practice architecture frameworks; and helping Red Kite retain sufficient internal understanding of key solution decisions to avoid over‑reliance on supplier knowledge.

Provide clear technical advice to project governance boards so senior stakeholders understand the implications of design decisions, trade‑offs, risks and costs. Maintain effective design governance, including standards, design reviews, approval of technical changes across configuration, integrations, customisations and data, and clear architectural documentation, decision records and supporting technical artefacts.

Qualifications, skills and experience

Relevant Microsoft certifications are essential or strongly desirable for this role. In particular, Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert (PL-600) is highly relevant, as it covers design decisions, configuration, integration, infrastructure, security, licensing, storage and change management. Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate (PL-400) is also beneficial, as it covers extensibility, custom APIs, plugins, Dataverse, Power Platform CLI, Azure Functions and integration patterns, even where the postholder is not expected to act as the main developer.

How to prepare for a job interview at Red Kite Community Housing

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Red Kite Community Housing uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
