We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Installation Engineer specializing in Audio-Visual (AV) Projects to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the hands-on installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of electrical and AV infrastructure across a variety of commercial, corporate, and residential projects.
You will bridge the gap between traditional electrical engineering and advanced AV technology, ensuring that power systems, structured cabling, and high-end AV equipment interface seamlessly and safely.
Key Responsibilities- Installation & Integration: Install, terminate, and test low-voltage and mains power cabling, containment systems (conduit, trunking, tray work), and AV-specific infrastructure. Integrate and mount AV hardware including large-format displays, LED video walls, projectors, smart boards, speakers, microphones, and rack-built systems. Solder, crimp, and terminate various connector types (RJ45, BNC, XLR, phoenix blocks, and custom power connectors).
- Testing & Commissioning: Perform electrical continuity, insulation resistance, and earth fault testing in compliance with local electrical codes. Assist AV programmers and commissioning engineers in powering up systems, loading configurations, and troubleshooting signal flow issues. Conduct systematic testing of audio, video, and control signals to ensure peak system performance.
- Engineering & Compliance: Interpret and work accurately from electrical schematics, line diagrams, architectural blueprints, and AV system CAD drawings. Ensure all electrical work strictly adheres to national and local electrical safety standards and building regulations. Maintain meticulous 'as-built' documentation, testing logs, and sign-off sheets for handed-over systems.
- Collaboration & Site Management: Coordinate effectively with project managers, AV designers, main contractors, and IT personnel on-site. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment, adhering to all company and site-specific Health & Safety guidelines.
- Required:
- Certification: Fully qualified electrician or electrical engineer (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, 18th Edition/local equivalent wiring regulations).
- Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in electrical installation, with a proven track record specifically within the AV, broadcast, or smart automation industries.
- Cabling Expertise: Deep understanding of copper and fiber structured cabling, signal separation rules (preventing EMI between power and data), and rack building.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel to various project sites and occasionally work flexible hours to meet strict project deadlines.
