I am currently working with a prestigious Higher Education organisation in Central London to recruit an experienced Electrical Facilities Officer to join their established on-site team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving electrical services across a busy, customer-focused campus, ensuring a safe and high-quality environment for staff, students, and visitors.

About You

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • At least 5 years' experience as a fully qualified Electrician
  • Experience gained within complex, customer-facing environments such as higher education, healthcare, hospitality, corporate headquarters, cultural institutions, conference venues, or similarly large-scale multi-stakeholder estates
  • A stable employment history with evidence of long-term commitment to employers
  • A consistent career track record demonstrating loyalty and longevity within organisations

Please note: Candidates whose experience has been primarily focused on residential property, domestic maintenance, or installation-led environments are unlikely to be a suitable fit for this opportunity.

Job Purpose

You will bring electrical maintenance expertise, operating across campus, responding to emergencies, and proactively improving facilities. You will play a key role in ensuring electrical systems are maintained to a high standard while supporting the wider Facilities team in delivering an excellent service.

Electrical Maintenance Operations
  • Complete electrical maintenance activities around campus, from responding to breakdowns to completing planned maintenance work
  • Repair and maintain electrical systems
  • Maintain and repair a full range of electrical items
  • Carry out general electrical inspections and repairs
  • Undertake planned preventative maintenance inspections and associated works
  • Deliver a high quality of finished workmanship
  • Ensure work requests are completed and signed off within the required time period
Service Delivery Team Support
  • Conduct operational tasks in accordance with defined policies, procedures and instructions to ensure the delivery of a first-class service to all stakeholders
  • Draft and develop standard materials, working to a clear brief, for use in the provision of an effective and efficient support service
  • Provide support to colleagues within and outside the team as opportunities arise, promoting collaborative working across the organisation
Minor Works Project Support
  • Construct and fix new items including shelves, worktops, notice boards, partitions and new doors
  • Provide ad hoc support, including carpentry work and the installation of fixtures and fittings, to small projects in support of project planning and implementation
  • Demonstrate flexibility to undertake minor works and repairs to flooring, suspended ceilings, minor plumbing, wall tiling and painting where required
Process Improvement Administration
  • Operate manual or computerised record-keeping control systems
  • Proactively review relevant processes within your area of work and make suggestions to improve efficiency
