Cutover Over/Data Migration IT Project Manager

Data Migration/Cutover IT Project Manager – INSIDE IR35 – £450 PER DAY – 6-12 Months Hybrid Role 2/3 days onsite in London

Position Overview:

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing the cutover process for our IT data migration project. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing large scale data migration projects with solid experience in: IT project management; core and recovery processes; data movement strategies and fallback/fix forward planning.

This role requires excellent stakeholder management, communication skills, and a good understanding of DevOps practices. Attention to the detail is critical. Please note this is a ‘hands on’ role where the individual will need to play an active part in ensuring data is migrated as required. The role will be working both internally and externally, to lead on the design, build and execution of a full data migration plan. The successful candidate will need to work with teams based in North America, Asia and Europe so an ability to work with cross-functional teams across multiple time-zone is essential

Key Responsibilities:

• Planning and Execution:

• Develop comprehensive cutover plans, including detailed runbooks/standard operating procedures and schedules. Plans must include sequencing of data across multiple platforms and applications. There will also be a need to co-ordinate the delivery, quality assessment, transfer and deployment of significant amounts of data.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, internal and external. to ensure alignment and readiness for the cutover process.
• Develop detailed cutover readiness KPI’s and metrics to inform go/no go decisions
• Detailed hour by hour activity planning and co-ordination pre-during and post cutover

• Data Movement and Target Load Strategies:

• Design and implement efficient data movement strategies to ensure accurate and timely data migration.
• Develop and oversee target load strategies to ensure data integrity and performance in the new system.

• Core and Recovery Processes:

• Establish robust core and recovery processes to ensure data consistency and availability during the cutover.
• Design and build ‘fallback’ processes.
• Implement fallback planning and procedures to quickly revert to the previous state if needed.
• issues to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in complex IT project management, with a focus on data migration and cutover processes.
• Education: A formal project management qualification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is highly beneficial.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of data movement, target load strategies, and fallback planning.
• Proficiency in core and recovery processes.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, both verbal and written in English.
• Advanced skills in spreadsheets (Excel) and presentation software (PowerPoint).
• Knowledge and experience of DevOps practices and tools.
