RED now has a new contract opportunity for a QA Engineer to join one of our key partners for a Financial trade project. This is a key role where you’ll take ownership of the testing strategy for a complex, containerised microservice environment, with a strong focus on automation, integration, and performance. The initial contract will be for 8 months with excellent extension opportunities. This contract is to start ASAP and will be hybrid with 3 days per week on-site in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
About the role: You’ll be responsible for evolving and enhancing the existing test landscape, driving best practices in automation, and embedding robust testing strategies across both frontend and backend systems. The role offers a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to influence tooling, frameworks, and CI/CD approaches.
Key skills and experience required:
- 5+ years experience as a QA test engineer
- Solid hands-on experience with C# or Java testing
- Proficiency in designing test automation solutions for distributed/microservice architectures
- Experience in Java and/or TypeScript
- Hands-on experience with Playwright or Selenium
- Experience with Docker (containerised environments)
- Strong integration and API testing experience
- Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred)
- Proficiency in Python for tooling and test support
- Solid understanding of testing strategy, patterns, and test data management
- Background in Banking preferred
Nice to have:
- Experience testing asynchronous systems (e.g. SNS/SQS)
- Exposure to performance testing
- Strong Agile and DevOps mindset
