We have some exciting 6-12 month fixed term Master roles availabile on both our RoRo and Hi Speed vessels (and these roles can be offered part time or full time too!)
Reporting to one of the Senior Masters, you will be responsible for the safe operation of the vessel and the effective leadership and performance of your crew. Experience of marine passenger operations is preferred, as your work will be focused on leading your crew to ensure that our vessels are at all times operated to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
Your excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills will ensure that your crew is motivated to achieve departmental goals and objectives. You will be required to work under pressure, whilst maintaining a high degree of concentration and care, and at the same time, excel at dealing with difficult customers in a polite, friendly, yet firm manner. Your keen eye for detail will ensure that onboard maintenance and training requirements are met and that the associated records are accurately maintained. A natural ‘people person’, you will enjoy working as part of the larger Company team in order to deliver the excellent level of customer service that characterises our business.
Hours are based on 41 hours per week, working on a rostered shift system covering a 24-hour operation, over 7 days a week. Accommodation isn’t available on-board so it’s key that you reside a commutable distance from our Southampton terminals. Minimum Requirements
- UK Certificate of Competency – Master’s Unlimited or Master 3000gt (Categorised Waters)
- Valid ENG1
- Ability to achieve Southampton and Cowes Pilot Exemption Certificates
