A great opportunity has arisen for a Leave Relief Shunt Driver to join our team in Southampton & East Cowes. This role is on a full time fixed term basis until 31st October 2026.

To us, health and safety is key in being able to operate our ferries successfully, along with our fantastic reputation for efficiency.

This role will be pivotal to supporting both these areas, and will include the safe movement of drop trailers on and off our vessels, as well as in and around the yard.

This requires a great deal of communication with both our freight customers and internal stakeholders, so you will be confident in addressing a whole range of individuals.

It’s also key to us that the successful candidate enjoys team work, as the logistics related to the role requires everyone to pull together to support all yard responsibilities within the terminal.

With at least two years’ LGV1 experience and preferably a valid ADR certificate, you will ideally be used to operating tug masters/tractor units in confined areas.

Previous experience within a customer service based environment would be an advantage.

  • To co-ordinate the drop trailer movements in both our Southampton and Island terminals, ensuring close liaison with relevant customers and colleagues.
  • To welcome our customers in a caring and friendly manner, anticipating their needs and creating an excellent impression of the organisation and our service.
  • To carry out visual inspections of the tug master, prior to driving, to check for damages or defects.
