Principal Public Health Engineer - London

We are now seeking a Principal Public Health Engineer to join our London office.

  • Role Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the running of large projects.

Undertakes a client facing role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc. (Several building types)

  • Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
  • Surveys, tests, carries out dilapidation reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations
  • Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Day to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with and provides advice to client
  • Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams
  • Ensures engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
  • Leads on the coordination of engineering services
  • Takes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions
  • Role Requirements
  • MSc/BEng Qualified or have sufficient equivalent experience in the field of Public Health design
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience with strong expertise in Public Health Engineering (water services, gas, above ground drainage and sanitation systems, rainwater disposal system design and fire suppression installations
  • Knowledge and experience of sustainable design including solar hot water systems, rainwater/grey water recycling innovations
  • Experience across mission critical/ data centre (highly desirable), commercial and mixed-use developments
  • Proven track record, working for large international consulting organisation within the UK or overseas, on major design projects
  • Working knowledge of core technical guidance published by CIBSE, British Standards, ISO, BSRIA, HSE and CIPHE
  • Competence in fire protection design is essential and experience with international standards such as EN, Vd S, NFPA and FM highly desirable.
  • Good knowledge of current standards and design codes essential
  • Good working knowledge of MS outlook, Word, Excel, Bluebeam, NAVIS.
  • Advantageous to have a good knowledge of Auto CAD and REVIT but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with architects and fellow designers
  • Confident to work independently as PH discipline lead driving project deliverables forward and capable of managing junior members of staff
  • Highly motivated with the drive to take on new challenges
  • Effective organisation, attention to detail and leadership capability Ability to review and validate PH and Sprinkler technical design outputs.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Confident delivering complex projects and advising stakeholders
  • Good understanding of British and European Standards/UK Regulations/Codes
  • Good understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.
