The Job As the Assistant Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and operational excellence of our Flight Club and Electric Shuffle venues across the UK. Working closely with the Head of Venue Maintenance and venue leadership teams, you’ll support the delivery of a proactive and high‑quality maintenance service that keeps our venues operating smoothly and our guests delighted. This role blends hands‑on technical skills with strong organisational ability, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance across unique hospitality venues incorporating innovative gameplay technology, bars, kitchens, and high-footfall guest spaces.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Maintenance Operations
- Support delivery of both reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all UK venues.
- Assist in the coordination, completion, and documentation of venue PPM schedules in line with statutory requirements.
- Carry out hands‑on repairs where suitable (e.g., basic electrical, plumbing, joinery, decoration, mechanical tasks).
- Monitor and maintain venue assets, ensuring minimal downtime for gameplay technology, lighting, AV systems, and critical equipment.
- Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and support team members in your region to achieve individual and team objectives while fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews to drive continuous development and maintain high standards.
- Set clear goals, expectations, and priorities, ensuring all team members understand their responsibilities and deliverables.
- Effectively manage workload distribution, ensuring tasks are delegated appropriately based on skills, strengths, and business needs.
- Facilitate regular team meetings, promoting open communication, sharing updates, and encouraging collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with organisational processes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements across all team activities.
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure venues remain compliant with UK regulations including Health & Safety at Work Act, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, Gas Safety, Fire Safety and associated standards.
- Support regular venue audits and follow up on any required corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation including service reports, equipment logs, and compliance certificates.
- Contractor & Supplier Coordination
- Liaise with our internal and external contractors for specialist works—HVAC, electrical, tech systems, fire safety, lifts, and other statutory services.
- Ensure contractors adhere to Flight Club/Electric Shuffle standards and safe working practices.
- Assist with scheduling, supervising, and signing off contracted works.
- Venue Support & Communication
- Build strong relationships with venue General Managers, Ops Managers, and on‑site teams.
- Respond to venue maintenance requests through the internal ticketing system, prioritising effectively and providing clear updates.
- Support new venue openings with setup, snagging, equipment installation, and handover processes.
- Technology & Gameplay Systems
- Work alongside the tech team to support maintenance of proprietary gameplay systems including mechanics, sensors, projectors, AV setups, and scoring/automation technology.
- Assist with troubleshooting technical issues to reduce operational disruption.
- Asset Management & Procurement
- Support inventory tracking for tools, spare parts, and venue consumables.
- Assist with sourcing equipment, obtaining quotes, and managing cost‑effective procurement.
To be successful in this role, you’ll:
- Have experience working on a CAFM and audit system.
- Have previous experience line managing a team of engineers.
- Have experience in a maintenance, engineering, or facilities role within hospitality, leisure, entertainment, or multi‑site environments.
- Have strong practical/technical skills across a range of disciplines (electrical, mechanical, joinery, plumbing, decoration).
- Have an understanding of UK statutory compliance for building and equipment maintenance.
- Have the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and problem‑solve under pressure.
- Have excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset.
- Have experience with AV, automation, or game/entertainment technology systems.
Relevant qualifications:
- Level 2/3 in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- IOSH Working Safely/Managing Safely.
- PAT Testing.
- F-Gas, HVAC, or similar.
Experience working across multiple venues or in a fast‑paced hospitality/retail environment. Full UK driving licence.
