The Job
This is a central role in a fast-paced, high-output design studio. It requires both an empathetic touch, and the ability to multi-task across numerous brands, functions, and channels . The end goal is to empower both the D esigners and the Head of Design to perform to the best of their abilities.
What You’ll Do
1. Leadership
- Line manage and mentor a team of integrated and digital designers, driving their skills and development to enhance their job satisfaction and performance
- Represent the Design function to Red Engine , franchise partners and external suppliers
- Own the day-to-day running of the design studio - from managing backlogs to ensuring clear, efficient creative workflows
- Act as the gatekeeper for requests, filtering comms and tasks to the right team members
- Be the design team ’s central point of contact for both internal and external partners
- Monitor the design life-cycle , structure and tools – identifying and implementing innovations and improvements where necessary
- Act as a key stakeholder in terms of creative output, partnering with the Head of Design to ensure everything leaving the studio is on brand and to the highest of standards
3. Resources and Planning
- Track team time and report monthly with Head of Design
- Own time and resource allocation across product s quads in partnership with Product Managers
- Forecast and plan for busy periods, identifying risks and flagging support needs to the Head of Design
- Partner with Creative Lead to ensure process and upkeep of our multiple Brand Guidelines & Creative Server, providing assets that are up-to-date and easy to access
- Manage freelancer bookings, budgets, and contracts, ensuring smooth onboarding and delivery
4. Production Oversight & Quality Control
- Support the Head of Design in maintaining high standards across all studio print output
- Liaise with suppliers to keep production on time, on brief, and on budget
- Help the team navigate production decisions and ensure they’re equipped with the right tools and guides
- Ensure all design output is well organised, consistently delivered, and brand aligned
- Coordinate proofreading through third parties at key stages in the design process
What You’ll Bring
- Working knowledge of design tools and software, ideal candidate coming from a design background themselves
- Strong organisational and project management skills - M icrosoft Planner , Teams , SharePoint experience a big plus
- Great team leadership , line management and communication skills - you know how to inspire, organise, and bring the best out of people
- Comfort working cross functionally and internationally with multiple stakeholders
- Confident communicator and natural problem solver
- Eye for design and a passion for quality, brand, and detail
- Experience managing external freelancers or suppliers . Knowledge of IR35
