We are working exclusively with a friendly and well-established firm of solicitors in Stevenage who are seeking an experienced Residential Conveyancing Secretary / Legal Secretary to join their supportive Conveyancing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong audio-typing skills and previous legal secretarial experience, particularly within Residential Conveyancing to become a valued part of a highly professional, client-focused practice.

Key Responsibilities
- Producing correspondence, legal documents, reports, and dictations accurately and efficiently
- File Management
- Opening, maintaining, and closing client files
- Ensuring all work complies with SRA and GDPR requirements
- Preparing contracts, transfers, and leasehold documents
- Submitting Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) forms and Land Registry applications
- Supporting the Partner/Solicitor with all stages of the conveyancing process
- Client & Third‑Party Liaison
- Acting as the first point of contact for clients, estate agents, and mortgage lenders via phone and email
- Providing excellent customer service and clear communication at all times
- General Administration
- Managing diaries and arranging appointments
- Photocopying, scanning, filing, and handling general office tasks
- Assisting with billing processes
What the client is looking for
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within Residential Conveyancing
- Confident using LEAP and BigHand (experience preferred)
- Excellent audio‑typing and digital dictation skills
- Strong working knowledge of the conveyancing process, Land Registry requirements, and search requests
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Professional, friendly communicator who enjoys working as part of a busy team
