We are recruiting a bookkeeper for a client in Harpenden, who offer bespoke accountancy solutions to a wide variety of clients.

The role is 15 hours per week, office based, and can be spread over 3 days.
This will involve effectively communicating with clients, undertaking bookkeeping tasks including bank and balance sheet reconciliations and preparation of VAT returns. You will also need to assist with other administrative tasks within the practice, including monthly payroll administration
What’s in it for you?
• Salary: £18-£20 per hour (full time equivalent between £35k and £39k)
• Hours: 15 per week, office based, and can be spread over 3 days – scope for hours to increase as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities:
· Client bookkeeping using a variety of software packages including Sage, Xero and QuickBooks
· Bank reconciliations
· Balance sheet reconciliations including debtor and creditor ledgers
· Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns
· Assisting with monthly client payroll administration
· Responding to client Queries and maintaining client relationships
What the employer is looking for:
· Experienced bookkeeper, ideally with experience using Sage (experience of other bookkeeping software packages would also be a bonus)
· Understanding of payroll processes (specific experience of payroll administration would be helpful but is not required)
· Willingness to work flexibly, including assisting other team members with their tasks as needed, balancing multiple client workloads
· Ability to take full ownership of tasks and ensure they’re completed to deadline
· Excellent communication skills, both within the team, and with clients
· Willingness to learn quickly, follow processes and work independently
· Meticulous attention to detail
· Excellent IT skills, including excel, with the ability to confidently work across a number of bookkeeping platforms and software applications
