An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Composite Trimmer / Fitter to join a growing specialist composites manufacturer in Norwich.

Working within a young, dynamic team, you will produce high-quality, highly visual composite components, predominantly for the premium automotive sector. This is more than simply another trimming position. We are particularly interested in experienced technicians who can take ownership of work from trimming through bonding and final assembly, with the potential to become a senior technical figure within the department and progress into a supervisory or department lead position as the business continues to grow.

The Role

  • Involved in the hands-on manufacture and completion of high-quality composite components, including:
    • Precision trimming and finishing of composite components.
    • Working predominantly with prepreg carbon fibre, along with some glass fibre components.
    • Bonding and complex assembly using structural adhesives.
    • Working with jigs and fixtures.
    • Following technical drawings and build manuals.
    • Taking ownership of projects through trimming, bonding and final assembly.
    • Maintaining the extremely high visual and cosmetic standards required for premium automotive components.
    • Completing relevant production documentation and route cards.
    • Working safely while maintaining quality and production deadlines.

What We’re Looking For

  • Someone with hands-on composites experience who understands that, with highly visual carbon components, the quality of the finish matters just as much as technical accuracy.
  • Ideally, you will have:
    • Strong hands-on composite trimming and fitting experience.
    • Experience working with prepreg carbon fibre.
    • Knowledge of, or experience in, autoclave composite manufacturing.
    • Experience with structural adhesives and bonded assemblies.
    • Experience working with jigs and fixtures.
    • The ability to work independently and take ownership of your work.
    • Confidence using relevant hand and air tools.
    • Excellent attention to detail and a strong understanding of visual quality standards.
    • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new processes.

Experience within premium automotive composites would be highly relevant. However, we are equally interested in strong candidates from aerospace, motorsport, marine or other advanced composites environments who have the right technical skills and quality mindset.

Senior Candidates - We Want to Hear From You

This position has genuine scope to grow. The business is expanding, and we are particularly keen to speak with someone who could eventually become a senior or supervisory figure and take responsibility for the department as the company develops. You do not need to know every internal process from day one. There will be time to learn the company’s products, customers and manufacturing methods. Attitude, ownership and a genuine commitment to producing exceptional work are extremely important.

Working Hours

The standard working day is approximately 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. However, the company offers flexibility around start times, with some team members choosing to begin earlier. You will work approximately 42.5 hours per week, with overtime available and paid at time and a third.

If you are an experienced Composite Trimmer, Composite Fitter, Composite Technician or Trim & Assembly Technician looking for a role where you can take ownership of your work and potentially progress into leadership, we would like to hear from you.
