Trainee Welding Fabricator (Plastics)
Location: Romsey, Hampshire
Hours: Monday-Thursday 07:00-17:00, Friday 07:00-13:00 (44 hrs/week including 5 hrs overtime at 1.33x)
Salary: £12.30-£15.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Join one of the UK\’s leading manufacturers of thermoplastic pipe systems, tanks and vessels. We\’re looking for a practical, reliable and motivated Plastic Fabricator to join our clients busy Romsey workshop.
About the Role
You’ll work from engineering drawings to mark‑out, cut, drill, bend and assemble components made from PVC, PP, PE and PVDF. You’ll carry out plastic welding and jointing (socket fusion, butt fusion, electrofusion, hot‑gas and extrusion), perform inspection and testing of finished assemblies, and maintain a safe, organised workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate pipework, tanks and vessels to specification
- Operate hand and power tools, saws, drills, benders and sanders
- Carry out thermoplastic welding and testing
- Work accurately to drawings and quality standards
- Follow all Health & Safety and housekeeping procedures
About You
- Hands‑on, practical and accurate
- Able to read and follow engineering drawings
- Confident using workshop tools and measuring equipment
- Team player with good attention to detail
- Apprenticeship, Level–2/3 Engineering, or relevant workshop experience preferred (training available)
