We're supporting a well-established composite manufacturing business in Portsmouth that produces high-quality components for demanding engineering sectors. Due to continued growth, they're now looking to add an experienced Composite Quality Inspector to their quality team.
This role would suit someone with a strong eye for detail, solid composites knowledge, and confidence working to aerospace-level quality standards.
The RoleYou’ll be responsible for ensuring all composite parts meet required specifications and quality standards, carrying out both in-process and final inspections.
- Performing in-process and final inspection of composite parts, sub-assemblies and finished products
- Identifying defects such as delamination, fibre misalignment, voids, surface imperfections and bonding issues
- Using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM and laser tracking systems
- Interpreting engineering drawings, ply books and specifications, including GD&T requirements
- Verifying compliance with manufacturing processes, work instructions and quality standards (AS9100 / ISO 9001)
- Completing inspection documentation, NCRs and quality reports within QMS systems
- Working closely with production and engineering teams to investigate and resolve quality issues
- Supporting First Article Inspection (FAI), PPAP activities and internal/external audits
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- 2+ years' experience in a composite quality inspection role
- Good understanding of composite manufacturing processes such as hand lay-up, resin infusion, RTM and autoclave
- Experience working to aerospace or high-spec quality standards (AS9102, NADCAP, ISO)
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience using inspection software such as PolyWorks and quality documentation systems
- A methodical, detail-driven approach with strong communication and problem-solving skills
