We are looking for an experienced and proactive Maintenance Manager to lead the day-to-day running of the Maintenance department within our luxury hotel. This is a key operational leadership role, responsible for ensuring the hotel's facilities, plant, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards, supporting exceptional guest satisfaction at all times. Reporting directly to the Property Manager, you will oversee preventative maintenance, compliance, refurbishment projects, energy efficiency, and the leadership and development of the engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day operation of the Maintenance department, ensuring high standards across all areas.
  • Setting and communicating quality standards through SOPs, training, and service journeys.
  • Leading and developing the engineering team, including rotas, appraisals, and training.
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory testing and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Overseeing preventative maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and replacement costs.
  • Managing response times to maintenance issues to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Acting as the main liaison with external contractors and technical service providers.
  • Overseeing refurbishment projects across bedrooms, public areas, and plant rooms.
  • Monitoring utility consumption and implementing energy-saving initiatives.
  • Managing departmental budgets, forecasts, and cost control.
  • Ensuring effective stock, spares, and equipment control.
  • Conducting regular inspections of the building, plant, and workshop areas.
  • Supporting emergency call-outs and rotating executive shifts as required.
  • Maintaining immaculate workshop and plant areas at all times.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Manager or Senior Engineer within a hotel or similar environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building services, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • In-depth understanding of statutory compliance and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing budgets, contractors, and refurbishment projects.
  • Strong communication skills and a hands-on, proactive approach.
  • Flexibility to support emergency call-outs and operational demands.
