Innovative PU performance ideas are a core attribute of being a part of the Powertrains team. This role will be working within the Electrical Design – ERS team and contribute towards delivering exciting research projects and above all supporting our dynamic team of engineers.

Your role:

  • Specification and design of Power Unit electronics components from initial concept
  • Developing, testing, and debugging of electronics components whilst in use on the Power Unit and during races
  • Development of electronic components, including high-performance power conversion and interface to car chassis circuits

Essential skills:

  • An Electronics Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
  • Multi-year experience in state-of-art electronics engineering, including power electronics
  • Schematic design and PCB layout (in any software tool)
  • Simulation tools used for electronics design (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice)
  • Proven track record of successful fault investigation, containment, and rectification
  • MSc. or PhD. Degree in Electronics or equivalent qualification
  • Developing and testing high-voltage electronics systems (up to 1000V)
  • Experience on high-performance (high-efficiency, low-weight) power electronics (e.g. DC-DC converters and/or inverters)
  • Experience on mixed-signal (analogue and digital) control electronics
  • Leading and taking ownership of component and sub-system development projects
  • Experience within a F1 hybrid power unit project
