Graduate Manufacturing Engineer (Post Graduate Apprentice)
We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Manufacturing Engineer to join our Chassis Manufacturing Engineering Department. Working from our state-of-the-art campus in Milton Keynes, you will be immersed into the heart of our manufacturing facility which includes some of the industry’s most impressive systems and technology that underpin the manufacture and assembly of critical chassis components.
As our Graduate Manufacturing Engineer (Post Graduate Apprentice) you will work in a supported and structured learning environment to achieve a Level 7 Post Graduate Engineering Diploma via an apprenticeship. Applying and demonstrating acquired skills and knowledge in assigned projects. You will also gain practical experience of the necessary technical, analytical, project management, continuous improvement and leadership skills required to become an effective Manufacturing Engineer capable of initiating, leading and delivering future supply chain improvement.
Your role:
- Proactively build and develop an external network to continuously identify, develop knowledge of, and succinctly communicate to the business the latest manufacturing technologies and capabilities.
- Once relevant improvement opportunities are identified robustly assess the potential and viabilitythrough both desktop analysis and/or practical trials, to influence future manufacturing strategies and raise goal expectations.
- Build leadership skills to work alongside manufacturing departments to create, maintain and deliver development roadmaps aligned to the Supply Chain objectives.
- Work with key stakeholders to develop robust business cases and financial models that support our capital investment plans.
- Gain project management experience by delivering engineering led projects through the full project lifecycle. This will include; problem definition, requirements capture, cost vs benefit analysis, project definition and planning, supplier selection, stakeholder engagement and management, financial approvals, install & commissioning, test, acceptance and sustainable handover to the customer department
- Establish strong relationships and clear communication across departments.
- Support, understand and actively contribute and engage in continuous improvement strategies, plans and policies. Support Production Engineering with knowledge of new process/ systems/tools and equipment that may enable them to avoid/overcome day-day production problems.
- Learn to lead cross-functional teams to evaluate end-to-end part production processes to ensure the most efficient, synchronised process is in place
- Provide second-line support for established processes, systems and tools.
- Coach supply chain teams in Continuous Improvement to drive improvement aligned to their strategic goals.
Key Competencies
- Thorough understanding and some practical experience of current composite and metallic component manufacturing and assembly processes.
- The ability to create and evaluate composite and metallic component manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Project Management and Project Leadership Experience.
- Data analysis and visualisation experience to drive decision making.
- Ability to present clearly and confidently.
Desired Competencies
- Complete Level 7 Post Graduate Manufacturing Engineer Apprenticeship programme, ensuring all off the job training and associated assignments are completed.
- Experience of technical engagement with suppliers of manufacturing plant/equipment/software.
- Research and Development experience within Engineering/Manufacturing.
- Project Management and Project Leadership Experience.
- Experience using CAD packages and the ability to read and correctly interpret engineering drawings
- Understanding and ideally some experience of applying Lean/Continuous Improvement tools:
- Setting appropriate Metrics/KPI’s
- Workplace Layout and Organisation
- Visual Management
- Process Mapping
- Structured Problem Solving

- To have completed an Engineering Degree
- To be able to attend our Assessment Centre on the 9th of September 2025
- To be 18 or over
- To have been a resident in the UK for the last 3 years
- To be able to travel to Portsmouth university once a month over the course of 3 years
