We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Composite Design Engineer to join our talented Composite Design Team. Working from our modern Milton Keynes campus, as part of our open minded, dynamic & inclusive working environment, we ensure everyone can make a valuable contribution to the constantly evolving design & manufacture of our F1 car.
As part of our Composite Design Team, your impact as Composite Design Engineer will be to work alongside fellow Engineers and various Manufacturing Departments to help ensure our future success on the racetrack.
Responsibilities- Cover all aspects of Composite Design – including brake duct design - from clean sheet idea generation, tooling, detailed component design, assemblies, associated jigs, pit gear and supporting documentation.
- Be involved in material selection, laminate design, structural sign off and fault fixing.
- Show creativity, to suggest new ideas and concepts, and be involved in our wide ranging and ambitious composite R&D activity.
- Be confident in presenting and justifying your ideas and design work.
- Appreciate the wider organisational picture and engage with planning & deliverables.
- Opportunity to assist in all areas of the Composite Design – straddling Design Departments as required.
- Have an engineering qualification or relevant practical experience.
- Have recent and relevant experience of motorsport/F1 in a design and/or practical setting.
- Recent experience of F1/motorsport composite brake duct design; ability to scheme from surfaces, complex tooling design, component design & assembly design, with a clear vision of composite manufacture of all parts throughout.
- Possess a broad understanding of current composite design & practical production/machining technologies, composite manufacturing techniques and assembly processes.
- Be familiar with the effective use of GD&T.
- Have experience using 3D CAD (Siemens NX is desirable but training available).
