The purpose of this role is to enhance vehicle performance by deepening the understanding and analysis of tyre behaviour. It involves leading and contributing to tyre-focused projects through the development and application of simulation tools, the evaluation of track and rig data, and the planning and execution of rig-based tests. The position is primarily factory-based, with a strong emphasis on advancing offline simulation capabilities and improving overall tyre knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Advance tyre simulation and modelling: Support the development of tyre simulation tools, focusing on offline and DIL tyre model creation, refinement, and correlation to real-world behaviour.
- Apply tyre mechanics expertise: Use strong knowledge of tyre mechanics and experience with thermo-mechanical tyre models to improve modelling accuracy and data-fitting methods.
- Lead measurement and analysis processes: Contribute to tyre measurement activities, enhance analysis techniques, and interpret performance trends and their impact on car performance.
- Support trackside and operational activities: Provide tyre performance support at races, tests, and simulator events, including pre-event guidance, issue investigation, and post-event analysis.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration: Coordinate with the tyre supplier and internal groups (Race Engineering, VPG teams), and help promote the use of simulation methods to address tyre-related performance questions.
Demonstrate deep understanding of tyre dynamics, modelling methods, and solid grounding in core vehicle dynamics principles. Show strong interest in high-quality data analysis and ensuring accuracy in findings. Able to present information clearly and confidently, especially under pressure. Willingness to adapt working hours and reliably meet demanding deadlines.
