We are seeking a skilled and motivated IT Engineer with strong end-user support experience, who is ambitious and eager to progress into a 3rd Line IT Infrastructure Engineer role focused on both support and project work. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in managing, maintaining, and optimising IT systems, alongside active participation in projects aimed at enhancing and expanding IT capabilities.

This role predominantly requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and hands-on support for Simulator and Dyno environments. It also offers opportunity to manage projects across multiple domains of IT, including core infrastructure components such as servers, storage systems, security, and more. Prior experience within the motorsport industry will be considered advantageous.

Although the role is factory based, an element will involve engaging with the trackside support team to provide an escalation support during race events, as well as supporting remote sites such as the wind tunnel test facility.

As a member of the IT Infrastructure Team, you will have the opportunity to design and implement various new solutions and technologies, as well as supporting and developing the existing physical, virtual and cloud estates.

Key Responsibilities

Car Systems, Dyno and Simulator support:

  • Provide day-to-day support and troubleshooting for the Simulator, Dyno and Rig environments
  • Participate in the implementation of the new IT Car System solutions and ensure both customer and internal IT requirements are met
  • Standardise and Maintain the IT Infrastructure supporting Telemetry toolchain environments
  • Provide occasional on-site IT support for events at the track or in the Ops Room
  • Participate in RBPT projects to ensure they are aligned with RBR and customer trackside solutions
  • Take ownership of improving the monitoring and visibility of the Simulator, Dyno and Rigs

Infrastructure Support:

  • Provide day-to-day support and troubleshooting for IT infrastructure systems, including servers, networking hardware, virtualised environments, and cloud solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance, uptime, and security for all critical infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Monitor and maintain the backup platforms and conduct regular system updates to ensure reliability and security.

Project Work & Implementation:

  • Participate in IT infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and the integration of new technologies.
  • Design, plan, and implement infrastructure solutions that meet organisational needs for scalability, performance, and security.
  • Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to deliver IT projects on time and within budget.
  • Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables, ensuring a smooth execution of new technology implementations.
  • Provide expertise in infrastructure planning and design, ensuring best practices are followed.

Infrastructure Strategy:

  • Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure configurations and standards.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to define the long-term infrastructure strategy, including cloud adoption, hybrid solutions, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that enhance performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor\\\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the IT sector, supported by direct involvement in end-user support and the coordination of technology projects
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with:
    • Client Administration (Windows and Linux Operating Systems)
    • Server administration (Windows and Linux Operating Systems)
    • Virtualisation technologies (VMware, Linux KVM/OVIRT, CitrixXen)
    • Structured and Unstructured storage systems (HPE, NetApp, IBM, Pure)
    • Backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience with IT project management, from planning and design to execution and delivery
  • Familiarity with IT security protocols and best practices
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools
