We are seeking an Advanced Measurement & Instrumentation Engineer to play a crucial role in the development of our Power Units by being part of a team responsible for implementing novel mechanical testing solutions in response to mechanical performance, durability and fault resolution requirements.
Key Accountabilities- Completing complex power unit physics tests according to existing processes on time and on budget.
- Conducting simplified tests representative of power unit physics to assess component durability.
- Processing measurement data using existing methods to generate clear conclusions in test reports and knowledge sharing meetings.
- Developing the use of advanced instrumentation hardware and data processing for any of these areas: strain, vibration, fatigue, durability, ultrafast measurement, lasers, full field methods.
- Using strain gauges, accelerometers, laser vibrometers, motion amplification, LVDTs, optical and VR tachometers, HV probes and other sensing mechanisms to complete tests within time and budget constraints.
- Determining instrumentation positioning for tests based on space claim and transmission paths of physics under test, designing and releasing bracketry and PU parts where appropriate.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (minimum 2:1) in Mechanical, Automotive, Physics, or equivalent qualification.
- Competent in the use of data acquisition measurement chain for power unit behaviour.
- Competent in the use of CAD software.
- Proficient with the use of MS Office tools.
- Strong ability to deconstruct complex problems into first principles to validate measurement approaches.
