Housekeeper wanted at Red Brighton Blue, a high end boutique guest house in Kemptown. Current position is primarily for weekend work, plus one or two days during the week. Previous hotel experience is usually required, but a general positive attitude and a good work ethic is just as important (eg. if you’re a student at Brighton/Sussex Uni and don’t have previous experience but feel the job is ideal for you, then please do write and let us know why and we’ll consider you). You should live within 20 mins walk / bus ride away from us, but if you live further please explain how you will get to work.
Current duties include housekeeping to a high standard, including cleaning guest bedrooms and bathrooms and all public areas of the hotel to defined, high standards, which are quality checked daily, as well as assisting with laundry and stock control.
Currently requirement is for weekend work, so you should usually be available to work on Saturday and Sunday, plus some additional hours during the week. Hours are seasonal and depend on the needs of the business week to week, but are likely to be around 3-5 hours per day and 2-5 days per week, including weekends. Hours during the winter may be less. Hours of the job are mornings to early afternoon, with start times usually around 10am. As our work is always during morning hours, many of our staff have additional jobs in the afternoons or evenings, of which we are very supportive. We’re a perfect job for Uni students or Mums with kids at school/nursery.
We are looking for people who are good at cleaning, enjoy cleaning, have an eye for detail, work to high standards, learn fast and use their initiative, both alone and as part of a team. We’re a good employer who tries very hard to look after our staff and you will feel part of a small, but tight and happy team. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate that they are bright, cheerful, helpful, flexible, able to learn, organised, thorough, good initiative, reliable and punctual.
A decent command of English is important and a second language eg. Polish, Hungarian, Czech, Spanish, Portugese would be an advantage.
Pay is up to £15 per hour depending on performance and experience (£12.50 per hour during probation, £13 per hour after probation) plus holiday pay, plus pension, based on a zero hours contract, however we work with our staff to be fair & as consistent as possible in your hours week to week. We are a Brighton Living Wage employer, which means we commit to paying a fair \’living\’ wage to all our staff.
Please email your CV, email and mobile number, together with a covering letter explaining why you feel this job is particularly suited to you and we will contact you for an interview and paid trial if suitable. Please do not phone and please do not apply without a CV or covering letter. Thank you.
