Hours: 25 hours per week - All year round

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 9:00am and 3:00pm - 6:00pm (flexibility will be considered)

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable, proactive, and practical School Caretaker to join our team. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of our school community, where no two days are the same. Our children and staff are looking for someone special to help keep our amazing school well, amazing!

You will play a vital role in making sure our environment is safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone who learns and works here. If you take pride in fixing things, solving problems, and making a real difference every day, this could be the perfect role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the school site, including buildings and grounds
  • Take responsibility for the daily locking and unlocking of the premises, ensuring the site is secure at all times
  • Monitor the work of contract cleaners to ensure high standards are consistently maintained
  • Carry out regular health and safety checks, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
  • Carry out fire safety checks, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
  • Arrange for and liaise with contractors working on site
  • Undertake a range of minor repairs, maintenance, and basic decorating tasks
  • Manage stock levels and order cleaning and maintenance supplies as required
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of the school and its pupils
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation across the site
  • Act as a positive and professional representative of the school community

About You:

  • You have strong practical skills and enjoy fixing and maintaining things
  • You are a self-starter with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • You have a positive, can-do attitude and take pride in your work
  • You enjoy active, outdoor work and are comfortable working across a busy school site
  • You are able to manage contractors effectively and respond to the needs of a school environment
  • You are able to identify site safety issues and act accordingly to ensure the safeguarding of all on site
  • Experience in a similar role is an advantage, but not essential; full training will be provided for the right applicant
