Semi Skilled Mechanical Fitter Salary £30-35k Based Bedford, Bedfordshire

A Semi-Skilled Mechanical Fitter is required for a busy engineering company based in Bedford. The company design and manufacture heavy, specialised capital equipment.

Reporting into the Operations Manager you will be part of a small team responsible for hydrostatic testing and fettling of components.

You will responsible for pressure test components and hydrostatic testing.

This requires an individual who is mechanically minded, with a keen eye for detail and an ability to think on their feet to resolve issues as they arise.

You will also use a variety of handheld power tools for the fettling and shaping of components.

The ability to read engineering drawings and follow work instructions, check lists and visual aids will be required for this.

The successful candidate will have several years experience working in a similar mechanical assembly environment.

Experience will have been gained in a light to medium mechanical engineering operation.

Experience in reading engineering drawings, manufacturing, and quality check lists is required.

Any experience of pressure testing would be advantageous, as would overhead crane and forklift experience
