We are looking for an experienced people leader to take responsibility for a team delivering rehabilitation and resettlement services across both prison and community settings across Hampshire and the Thames Valley.
This is a role with real impact. You’ll be leading a dedicated team, ensuring they have the right support and direction to deliver high-quality services that change lives. Typically you will spend 1–2 days per week in Portsmouth or Southampton, with the rest of your time working across the Thames Valley and Hampshire in prison and probation settings.

What you’ll be doing
- Providing clear direction and leadership to a team spread across multiple sites
- Monitoring performance and ensuring targets and standards are consistently achieved
- Acting as the first point of support for staff, offering guidance and stepping in where needed to keep services running smoothly
- Building effective working relationships with a wide range of partners, both in custody and in the community
- Using data and reporting tools to track progress, identify improvements, and ensure services remain compliant and high quality
- Encouraging a culture of learning, growth and continuous improvement within your team
About you
- You have experience managing staff within a justice contract or a related sector such as housing, employability, drug and alcohol services, or homelessness support
- You can confidently lead teams, build strong relationships with partners, and maintain high standards across multiple sites
Additional information
- The role is based in either Portsmouth or Southampton (this will be your main base location)
- Travel will cover Hampshire and the Thames Valley
- Key locations include probation offices across the region (for example Reading, Slough, Milton Keynes) and prisons such as HMP Winchester, HMP Bullingdon and HMP Springhill
- Travel across the region is essential
