We are recruiting for a Criminal Justice Support Worker to join a genuinely brilliant project in Chatham supporting ex-offenders to rebuild their lives. This is not a cold, clinical service. The environment is calm, welcoming and intentionally relaxed, more like a safe community hub than a formal office. There is a pool table, a small gym area, and space for people to feel comfortable, build trust, and engage at their own pace.
The service supports people with multiple barriers, and your job is to help them move forward through practical guidance, encouragement, and consistent 1-2-1 support.
Responsibilities- Support participants with practical obstacles such as obtaining ID, registering with a GP or dentist, and securing or maintaining accommodation.
- Support people with wider barriers such as low confidence, low literacy or numeracy, and motivation challenges.
- Help people access employability support such as CV writing, job applications, interview preparation, and disclosure guidance.
- Facilitate practical courses and learning where appropriate (including vocational learning, basic skills and financial literacy).
- Provide 1-2-1 support and group-based activities so participants can build confidence and routines.
- Support people to work through structured learning such as recorded sessions or workbooks.
- Help people access partner services and community delivery sites, including pop-up hubs where needed.
- Attend collaborative appointments with professionals in the community and help people feel supported through the process.
You might come from a background in criminal justice, probation services, homelessness, substance misuse, mental health, supported housing, or employability. It is essential you have supported people previously with the challenges ex-offenders might face.
