This is a hybrid role (3 – 4 days a week from home on average), supporting people with neurodiversity support needs to either maintain employment or secure new employment. This is a lovely charity to work for, having placed over 30 people who are all still in their roles. Typically, you will have a caseload of around 40 participants, who may have been referred to you via the NHS, job centre, or by self-referral.
The service specifically supports people who are neurodiverse, which could include ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia, or Tourette's. Participants may be struggling to maintain work or secure employment, with cases being roughly 50-50 on average. Those who are employed but struggling might be signed off from work or going through challenging situations such as a PIP. You will support them through this process, liaising with employers on their behalf and discussing returns to work or reasonable adaptations.
For those who are unemployed or seeking a new career, your sessions will focus on job searching, CV writing, and interview preparation. You will typically have around four one-to-one sessions a day with your clients, usually working with them for about 3 – 6 months until they no longer need your support (though this can vary).
While the role is hybrid, the charity requires flexibility regarding working days from home. You will always work from their St Neots office on Mondays, with team meetings every other month. Additionally, you may attend visits to local job centres or careers fairs in Peterborough/Cambridgeshire.
Please note, there are 2 roles available: one is a 12-month contract, and the other is a 9-month maternity cover role. Alternatively, you might have experience in supporting others to achieve goals, such as being a teacher, tutor, recovery worker, or similar.
