Are you an experienced Senior Support Worker, or Team Leader looking for your next career move? Do you have a passion for mental health, supported housing and helping people develop the skills and confidence to live independently?
We are recruiting for a Team Leader to oversee a supported housing service in North Somerset, covering Clevedon and Weston-super-Mare.
You will typically manage a team of 2-3 (up to 6 as the service expands).
About the Service
The service provides temporary supported accommodation for adults aged 18 and over who are experiencing mental health challenges and need support to move towards independent living.
Residents can typically stay for up to 24 months, receiving tailored support to develop their confidence, maintain their tenancies and reconnect with their communities.
The service supports 18 residents across two locations:
- Weston-super-Mare: A shared house with 10 private bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities, plus communal areas.
- Clevedon: Eight self-contained flats.
The service is experiencing steady, sustainable growth, making this an exciting opportunity to contribute to its continued development.
The Role
As Team Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of both services, ensuring residents receive high-quality, recovery-focused support.
You will lead, supervise and develop a small team of support staff, helping them deliver effective interventions that promote tenancy sustainment, independent living and positive outcomes for residents.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the day-to-day operation and development of both services.
- Leading, supervising, coaching and developing support staff and volunteers.
- Supporting staff recruitment, induction, training and performance management.
- Monitoring service performance, KPIs, targets and contractual requirements.
- Overseeing referrals and ensuring residents receive appropriate support.
- Building effective relationships with housing providers, social services, mental health teams and other external agencies.
- Ensuring safeguarding, health and safety, risk management and service standards are maintained.
- Supporting residents to develop independent living skills, manage their accommodation and prepare for a successful move into independent housing.
- Deputising for the Area Manager when required.
You may also hold a small caseload when needed to support service delivery.
About You
We’re looking for someone with frontline support experience who is ready to take on, or continue developing within, a leadership role.
Ideally, you will have:
- At least two years’ experience at Senior Support Worker, Team Leader or equivalent level.
- Previous team management or staff leadership experience.
- Experience coordinating staff, volunteers, projects, group activities or service delivery.
- A background in supported housing, residential care, mental health, criminal justice or a similar support environment.
- An understanding of the needs of adults experiencing mental health challenges or other complex circumstances.
- Strong communication, organisation and people management skills.
- The ability to coach colleagues, monitor performance and work towards service targets.
- Confidence working with partner agencies and maintaining accurate records and reports.
An NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or an equivalent qualification, is required, or you must be willing to work towards this in post. A relevant professional qualification is desirable.
You should also be comfortable using Microsoft Office programmes and demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice.
Essential requirement: A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required, as you will travel between the Clevedon and Weston-super-Mare services.
