We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support our client, a primary school in Hertford, fostering a nurturing and effective learning environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly in KS1. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to educate and engage students, including those with autism and ADHD.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in delivering educational activities and lessons tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Provide individual support to children, ensuring their emotional and physical well-being during classroom activities.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour by implementing strategies that promote positive interactions among students.
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to ensure a collaborative approach to education.
  • Support children with special educational needs, adapting materials and methods as necessary to enhance their learning experience.
  • Maintain a safe and organised classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to toddler care and special education.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly in KS1 or special education settings.
  • Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and effective strategies for supporting individuals on the spectrum.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to educate and engage children through creative teaching methods.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children in an educational setting.
  • A relevant qualification in childcare or education is desirable but not essential.
  • Up to date DBS required.
