Job Description:
We are recruiting experienced HGV Class 2 Drivers (Category C)for a busy distribution hub based in Stevenage. This is a multi-drop delivery role involving the movement of bakery goods to convenience stores and supermarkets.
All loads are pre-packed on wheelable dollies, and vehicles are equipped with tail-lifts for safe unloading.
You will be part of a structured operation that values punctuality, professionalism, and strong customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and maintain proper load security
- Complete multi-drop deliveries to retail sites (average 812 drops per shift, up to 15 locally)
- Load and unload bread trays using roll-on dollies
- Operate tail-lift vehicles safely and in line with company training
- Complete relevant delivery documentation accurately
- Maintain a high standard of customer service, particularly at client-facing sites
Requirements:
- Valid UK Class 2 (C) licence, held for a minimum of 1 year
- Valid UK-issued CPC and Digital Tachograph card
- Maximum 6 penalty points no DR, DD, IN or other major endorsements
- Comfortable with manual handling of bread trays and early morning start times
- Must complete a paid 6-hour induction, including:
- Written test (Highway Code and Driver Hours)
- Vehicle check (minimum 15 minutes)
- 1-hour on-road assessment
- Willingness to complete a 2-day shadowing period post-induction
