About Senapt

Senapt is seeking an experienced Solar Technical Specialist to support the development, delivery and technical performance of solar energy projects across Africa and the Middle East.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong solar professional who understands the challenges of delivering renewable energy solutions in emerging and developing markets.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, customers, suppliers and project partners to ensure solar systems are technically sound, commercially viable and delivered to a high standard.

The Role

As Solar Technical Specialist, you will provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from initial site assessment and system design through procurement, installation, commissioning and ongoing performance optimisation.

You will be responsible for ensuring that solar solutions meet project requirements, relevant standards and best-practice engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review technical designs for solar PV and associated energy systems.
  • Undertake or support solar site assessments and feasibility studies.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, drawings, calculations, reports and documentation. Making sure designs comply with (IEC 62446, IEC 61730)
  • Assess system sizing, energy yield, equipment selection and overall system performance.
  • Provide technical input into project proposals and customer solutions.
  • Work with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers and local installation teams.
  • Support procurement and technical evaluation of solar equipment.
  • Provide technical oversight during installation, commissioning and testing.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues affecting project delivery or system performance.
  • Review system performance and recommend improvements where required & ensure projects comply with applicable electrical, safety and engineering standards.
  • Contribute to technical reports, project documentation and customer presentations whilst supporting the wider business with solar technology knowledge and market developments.

About You

We are looking for a practical and commercially aware solar professional with strong technical knowledge and the ability to operate effectively across different countries, cultures and project environments.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in solar PV system design, engineering and commissioning.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher national diploma (HND) in electrical engineering, renewable energy engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong understanding of solar PV technologies, electrical systems and energy storage.
  • Experience working on commercial, industrial, utility-scale or distributed solar projects.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and electrical documentation.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, suppliers and/or project delivery teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Africa and the Middle East.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working on solar projects in Africa, the Middle East or other emerging markets.
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Knowledge of hybrid power systems, microgrids or off-grid applications.
  • Experience with solar PV modelling/design software such as PVsyst or equivalent.
  • Relevant engineering or renewable energy qualification.
  • Membership of a recognised engineering or renewable energy professional body.
