The Role at a Glance

Process Analytical Chemist / Chemical Engineer
Location: Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire (OX11 0RL) - 3 days per week on-site and occasional international travel for customer visits and conferences
Salary: £30,000–£40,000 depending on experience
Working Hours: 9am-5:30pm Monday to Friday with flexibility
Full-time - Permanent

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Analysing customer samples in the lab to create datasets for model development
  • Building chemometric models to demonstrate the IRmadillo’s capabilities
  • Working directly with customers to implement and troubleshoot models
  • Supporting the sales team by explaining spectroscopy and understanding customer chemistry
  • Helping customers integrate spectrometers with their plant control systems

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Essential:

  • A degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to spot trends or issues in data
  • A proactive, flexible attitude and willingness to learn and contribute across the team

Desirable:

  • Awareness of the chemical and biotech industries
  • Interest or basic understanding of chemometrics (don’t worry—we’ll help you learn!)
  • Practical experience with spectroscopy, analytical chemistry, or chemical processes (e.g., through coursework, projects, or internships)
