Ready to move your career forwards with a fast-growing bespoke furniture manufacturing company rated no.1 in its class? Parker Howley & Co is a fast-growing Yorkshire manufacturer creating high-end bespoke furniture from our workshop in Mirfield. We've grown from around £1m to £3.5m turnover in just four years, supplying beautiful made-to-order furniture to private clients, interior designers and high-end developers. Now we’re looking for a commercially sharp, hands-on Finance & Operations Manager to work directly with the owners and strengthen the financial and operational engine behind our next stage of growth.
This isn’t a role where you’ll simply report the numbers. You’ll understand what every job really costs, where margin is being made or lost, what we’re spending with suppliers and where the business can operate smarter. For the right person, there’s genuine scope to progress towards Director level and potentially own a stake in the business.

- Location: Mirfield, West Yorkshire - Hybrid (4 Days Onsite / 1 Day WFH)
- Salary: £40,000 - Rising to £45,000 after probation

Finance: Management Accounts | Cash Flow | Budgets | Payroll | VAT | Job Costing
Commercial: Purchasing | Suppliers | Pricing | Margin | Stock

Own the Numbers. Understand the Operation. Help Us Grow.
You’ll take ownership of our day-to-day finance while getting close enough to the operation to understand what’s really driving performance. From management accounts, cash flow and payroll through to job costing, purchasing, margins and suppliers, you’ll give the owners clear visibility of the numbers that matter and help turn them into better commercial decisions. You’ll also support the flow of work through the business, improving stock and purchasing, helping manage capacity and identifying better systems and processes as we scale.
Where You’ll Make an Impact
- Owning day-to-day finance including ledgers, credit control, monthly payroll, VAT and reconciliations
- Producing management accounts, cash-flow forecasts, budgets and commercial reporting
- Developing accurate job and product costing to understand true margins
- Managing purchasing, supplier relationships, pricing and negotiations
- Improving stock and materials control
- Supporting order scheduling, workshop capacity and delivery planning
- Identifying cost leakage, bottlenecks, remakes and process improvements
- Improving spreadsheets, systems and processes as the business grows
- Acting as the main contact for accountants, banks and insurers
- Supporting basic HR, Health & Safety and people administration when required
About You
You’ll have a strong, hands-on finance background and may be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience. You’ll be commercially minded and comfortable operating in a growing SME where finance, purchasing and operations are closely connected. Experience supporting a business through a period of significant growth would be particularly valuable, ideally with an understanding of the financial controls, systems and operational processes needed to scale from around £3m towards £7–8m+ turnover.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Strong hands-on finance and management accounting experience
- Cash-flow, budgeting, payroll and financial control capability
- Job costing, product costing and margin analysis experience
- Purchasing and supplier management exposure
- Excellent spreadsheet skills
- An understanding of stock, materials and operational costs
- Experience improving systems and processes
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and commercial judgement
Experience within furniture, joinery, bathrooms, interiors, construction or another manufacturing/make-to-order environment would be particularly valuable. ERP, MRP or job-management system experience would be a bonus. Above all, you’ll be hard-working, trustworthy, accurate and comfortable with change, with the ambition to take on more as the business grows.
Why Parker Howley?
We’re a small, successful business with ambitious plans, a close-knit team and a relaxed working environment built around honesty, integrity, quality and doing things properly. You’ll work directly with the owners and have the autonomy to improve how the business operates, with decisions you can actually see making a difference.
What We Offer

- Potential EMI share scheme after 12 months
- Genuine Director-level progression opportunity
- 20 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Company pension
