RECRUITMENTiQ is currently working in partnership with a telecom infrastructure contractor who are looking to recruit a proactive SSHEQ professional with a passion for driving a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Do you want to work on critical infrastructure projects across Scotland? We are looking for a SSHEQ Advisor to join our team, providing essential support, advice, and information to our operational teams to ensure they deliver services safely, responsibly, and to the highest quality standards. This is a crucial role where your expertise will directly add value to our projects and people.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Project Mobilisation: Assisting operational teams in planning and setting up SSHEQ requirements for new projects from day one.
- Documentation & Compliance: Supporting the completion of Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Construction Phase Plans (including CDM).
- Auditing & Improvement: Implementing and maintaining a strong auditing culture (to ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001 standards), backed by data and regular reviews to drive performance improvements.
- On-Site Support: Providing hands-on support to operational teams on site and within depots.
- Incident Investigation: Undertaking thorough investigations of events, identifying root causes, and implementing effective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Training & Briefing: Developing and delivering clear SSHEQ briefings and supporting training to ensure compliance and best practice are cascaded throughout the business.
- Reporting & Governance: Producing key performance reports for both internal stakeholders, clients and taking ownership of our procedures and guidance documents.
- Sub-Contractor Management: Supporting and monitoring sub-contractor SSHEQ performance.
Requirements Skills and Qualifications You'll Need
We're looking for a highly capable, multi-skilled advisor ready to grow and adapt with our business.
Essential Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years business experience in a similar role.
- Strong practical knowledge of Health & Safety Management (including CDM), Environmental & Waste Management, and Quality and Assurance Management Systems.
- Ability to undertake audits to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standards.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team and positively influence others' SSHEQ ethic.
Qualifications:
- Tech IOSH and Associate of IEMA (or working towards).
- NEBOSH Health & Safety Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Health & Safety Certificate (or equivalent).
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
- A full and current driving licence is mandatory.
Desirable (a strong advantage):
- NRSWA and CSCS cards.
- IEMA Foundation Certificate (or equivalent).
