Compliance Manager / MLRO
An established and growing UK financial services business is looking to appoint an experienced Compliance Manager / MLRO to join its team.
Reporting to senior leadership, you will play a key role in maintaining and developing a robust compliance framework, providing practical regulatory guidance across the business and ensuring the firm continues to meet its FCA and wider regulatory obligations.
This is a broad role offering the opportunity to take ownership of the compliance function while working closely with senior stakeholders and supporting the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
- Maintain and enhance horizon scanning and regulatory change processes.
- Manage and develop the firm's SM&CR arrangements.
- Oversee and maintain the compliance policy framework.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of regulatory returns.
- Provide practical compliance advice and guidance across the business.
- Act as an escalation point for complex compliance matters.
- Identify, assess and escalate material compliance risks and issues.
- Maintain and develop the compliance risk and controls register.
- Produce compliance reports, recommendations and management information for senior leadership.
- Oversee compliance training, attestations and related processes.
- Review and improve compliance processes to ensure they remain effective and fit for purpose.
- Lead and support members of the compliance team, encouraging technical development and best practice.
You'll ideally have
- 5+ years' compliance experience within UK financial services.
You must have current approval for, or the ability to hold, SMF16 and SMF17.
- Previous experience acting as an MLRO.
- Strong knowledge of FCA regulations, SM&CR and financial services compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
- The confidence to work independently and provide advice to senior stakeholders.
- Experience with financial services back-office systems; Intelligent Office or Finplan would be advantageous.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.
