Global logistics company are seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Export Operator to join the Manchester team. This role is responsible for managing end-to-end ocean export shipments, ensuring excellent customer service while maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
We are looking for an experienced Ocean Exports Operator located at the Manchester office. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service while managing the end-to-end ocean export process. To be successful you will have handled shipments, quotations, customs processes, and invoicing while maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams. The role also requires flexibility to support multimodal activities and assist the supervisor during periods of absence or holiday.
Key Responsibilities as an Ocean Exports Operator:
- Maintain regular communication with customers and suppliers to build and sustain strong relationships
- Manage cost control and job profitability
- Complete end-to-end forwarding activities for export shipments
- Follow strict, time-sensitive SOPs and KPIs to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners
- Deliver a high level of customer service at all times
- Use CargoWise and Microsoft Office systems as required
- Ensure invoicing and job costing are completed within required timeframes
- Support month-end departmental compliance
- Complete customs entries and ensure compliance with customs regulations
- Assist supervisors and managers when required
- Produce internal and customer-specific reports within deadlines
- Resolve customer and supplier queries efficiently
- Follow and promote best practice processes within the business
- Assist with internal and external rate reviews
- Participate in customer reviews to strengthen relationships and service visibility
- Support sales and management with customer development opportunities
- Operate within the company’s Quality Assurance system
- Maintain full compliance with customs regulations and health & safety requirements
- Carry out additional duties as required by management
As an Ocean Exports Operator you will have:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in ocean freight forwarding, specifically exports (FCL & LCL)
- Experience using CargoWise
- Strong PC skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Good understanding of customs clearance, tariffs, and procedures
- Ability to follow and contribute to operational procedures and SOPs
- Excellent customer service skills
- Educated to GCSE/O-Level standard or equivalent
