The Role
As a European Road Freight Supervisor / Transport Supervisor you'll oversee the day-to-day movement of UK and European road freight, ensuring shipments are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time.
You'll be responsible for planning transport solutions, negotiating rates with haulage partners, supporting customers, and driving operational excellence across the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate UK and European road freight shipments from booking through to delivery.
- Plan the most efficient and cost-effective transport solutions.
- Negotiate competitive rates with haulage partners and secure transport bookings.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and transport partners.
- Prepare quotations and support the development of new and existing customer accounts.
- Work closely with the customs team to support import and export shipments.
- Investigate and resolve service issues, ensuring customers receive timely updates and excellent service.
- Monitor performance against KPIs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure operational systems are maintained accurately and documentation is completed to a high standard.
About You
- We're looking for a European Road Freight Supervisor / Transport Supervisor who has:
- Proven experience in UK and European road freight or freight forwarding.
- Strong knowledge of transport planning and haulage operations.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and negotiation skills.
- A proactive, customer-focused approach with the ability to work under pressure.
- Experience with freight forwarding software (Cargo Wise experience is an advantage).
- Import and export customs knowledge is desirable but not essential.
