Head of Technical
Role Definition
- To lead the technical function for the site ensuring legislative compliance to food safety within a manufacturing environment
- To interface directly with the customer regarding compliance to food safety, quality, innovation and owning the customer agenda through to effective delivery on site.
- To ensure that key performance indicators are trending in the right direction through cross functional engagement and coaching as required
- To interface with division, group and other external bodies at the highest professional standards with an objective to deliver best practice on site
Accountabilities
- To develop and maintain a close working relationship with customer, whether on or off site. It is critical that confidence is established through clear and timely communication, decisive actions based on sound evidence and judgement and a positive attitude to resolving any issues which may arise.
- To ensure that departmental expenditure is regularly reviewed and managed, with exceptions reported to next level management with robust action plans to address
- Ensuring regular reviews are held with the direct team members, including performance reviews, one to ones and updating and maintaining of relevant training matrices. Close monitoring of all performance indicators with appropriate and timely intervention through robust RCA and action for adverse trends.
- To actively promote a Safety culture and ensure all Health and Safety requirements are met
- To support the delivery of the site and divisional environmental strategy and incorporate all aspects of this strategy in decision making or project design where relevant.
Experience must
- Proven experience at a similar level in food manufacturing, ideally chilled high risk/care foods
- Experience of driving cultural change and dealing with a complex high volume factory
- Process/Product Development experience would be beneficial
This role would suit an existing Head of Technical of a large site or multi site role or a Technical Director of a small to medium retail focused business
