Granite Recruitment are seeking a site-based HSE Manager to oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance during the turbine installation phase at Killgallioch Wind Farm. This role is focused solely on our clients scope of works and does not include responsibility for CDM coordination or the overall Construction Phase Plan, which are managed by others. The successful candidate will provide competent and visible safety leadership for our installation team, ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with relevant legislation, client expectations, and AES internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and enforce safe working practices across all installation activities.
- Conduct daily site safety inspections and monitor high-risk operations such as lifting, working at height, and SIMOPs.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and point-of-work risk assessments.
- Complete and maintain HSE documentation including inductions, incident logs, and PPE records.
- Support incident investigations and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
- Liaise with client and customer HSE personnel to manage interface risks and align with site rules.
- Ensure AES welfare arrangements remain in line with project expectations and regulations.
- Monitor subcontractor safety performance.
Minimum Requirements
- IOSH Managing Safely (minimum) or NEBOSH General Certificate (preferred).
- Proven years of experience in a site-based HSE role within construction, renewables, or heavy industry.
- Working knowledge of wind turbine installation risks and safe systems of work.
- Familiarity with SIMOPs and working within multi-contractor environments.
- Experience supporting lifting operations or turbine erection.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable (but not essential)
- GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) including Working at Height, First Aid, and Manual Handling.
