We are looking for a Workshop Trainee – Vehicle Fabrication & Repair to join a busy and well-established workshop in Willand. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical, hands-on experience who is looking to build a long-term career in vehicle fabrication, repair, and commercial vehicle engineering. You will be working alongside experienced technicians and fabricators, gaining exposure to high-quality coachbuilding and HGV-related repair and fabrication work, with full training and development provided.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the fabrication, repair, and modification of coaches, buses, and commercial vehicles.
- Assisting with MIG/TIG welding, cutting, grinding, and metal preparation (training provided where required).
- Using hand tools and workshop equipment safely in day-to-day tasks.
- Assisting with the fitting and installation of vehicle components including frames, panels, seating, and windows.
- Supporting mechanical and basic electrical work under supervision.
- Working from technical drawings, job sheets, and build specifications.
- Assisting with chassis, structural, and body repairs.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop environment.
- Following all health & safety procedures at all times.
- Completing basic job records and supporting workshop workflow.
- Working closely with senior technicians to develop technical skills and knowledge.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience using hand tools in a workshop, engineering, construction, or manufacturing environment.
- Some exposure to mechanical, fabrication, or vehicle repair work is desirable.
- Practical, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work from basic technical drawings (desirable).
- Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Reliable, motivated, and team-focused attitude.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop into a skilled technician.
