Job Specification: Programme Manager Contract Type: Freelance, flexible hours, working from home Commitment: 500+ hours per annum plus expenses Reports to: Board of Trustees Location: Eastbourne, East Sussex About Eastbourne EBP Eastbourne EBP is an independent Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) that has been operating for over 30 years. Our mission is to deliver work-related activities that enhance educational outcomes and contribute to local economic growth and prosperity. The organisation is guided by a board of trustees that includes representatives from education, business, and Eastbourne Borough Council. Our key programmes include: The BIG Futures Show Eastbourne Youth Radio Young & Junior Engineers Junior Enterprise Young Chef In-Bloom In addition to these, we also organise ad-hoc events throughout the year. The Programme Manager will be responsible for the management and delivery of these initiatives. Key Responsibilities The Programme Manager will be the face of Eastbourne EBP and will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of all events and activities. Responsibilities include: Programme Management: Oversee and deliver the annual programme of events with the support of trustees, ensuring all events are executed on time, within budget, and meet the organisation’s objectives. Partnerships & Collaboration: Work closely with Eastbourne Borough Council and other local stakeholders. Represent Eastbourne EBP at local forums such as the Chamber of Commerce, 3VA, and AEBP, contributing to key initiatives and government lobbying efforts. Public Relations & Networking: Act as the public face of Eastbourne EBP, maintaining relationships with education and business communities. Engage with press and liaise with our Media partner for social media support. Event Management: Organise, plan, and deliver all annual and ad-hoc events. This includes sourcing venues, materials, catering, and business volunteers. You will also be responsible for setting individual challenge themes (e.g., Junior Enterprise). Material Development: Manage the design and creation of supporting materials for events, such as the show guide for The BIG Futures Show and the programme booklet for Eastbourne Youth Radio. Financial Management: Manage budgets, source sponsorships and donations, and contribute to grant applications. You will also handle invoicing through Xero and manage credit control alongside the Hon. Treasurer. Board Support: Provide administrative support to the board of trustees, including acting as secretary during meetings.10 meetings a year Archives & Resources: Maintain and manage all organisational archives and materials. Ad Hoc Tasks: Be prepared to handle any additional responsibilities that may arise during the course of the role. Required Skills and Experience Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within budget. Leadership: Experience leading teams and engaging stakeholders across different sectors. Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills, with a proven ability to build partnerships and achieve win-win outcomes. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of addressing diverse audiences. Partnership Building: Experience in building and maintaining successful partnerships and coalitions including networking with relevant sponsors and the wider business community Innovation: Ability to think critically and find creative solutions to challenges. Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and profit & loss (P&L) oversight. Event Organisation: Experience in managing events from conception through to execution, including sourcing venues, catering, and volunteers. Personal Attributes Self-motivated and able to work independently. Highly organised and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Passionate about education, youth development, and community building. Adaptable and able to handle varying work hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
