About the Role

Our client is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Production Operative to join their production team. This role is critical in maintaining high food safety, hygiene, and production standards while ensuring products are manufactured efficiently and to specification. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting daily production activities, maintaining cleanliness across the site, and contributing to a safe and compliant food manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Operations
    • Start up the production line and inspect machinery, belts, and equipment for cleanliness and any signs of damage before production begins.
    • Monitor the production process throughout the shift, making necessary adjustments to ensure products remain safe, compliant, and within specification.
    • Conduct hourly quality checks, including:
      • Product length measurements
      • Taste and colour assessments
      • Moisture content testing using the moisture analyser
    • Complete all required production and quality documentation accurately.
    • Collect and manage product samples for microbiological testing, including laboratory and retained library samples.
    • Report equipment issues, downtime, or product integrity concerns promptly to management.
    • Assist with production line shutdown procedures and ensure cleaning processes are completed correctly.
  • Hygiene & Cleaning Responsibilities
    • Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness across production areas at all times.
    • Carry out hygiene operations in accordance with company procedures and food safety requirements.
    • Strip, clean, sanitise, and reassemble equipment as required.
    • Perform deep-cleaning activities following cleaning schedules and work instructions.
    • Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment in line with training and health & safety procedures.
    • Support pot wash, compactor operations, and other hygiene-related activities as required.
    • Ensure microbiological standards are achieved and maintained to provide a safe production environment.
    • Carry out ATP swabbing when required.
  • Compliance & Team Support
    • Support site audits, inspections, and customer visits alongside management and technical teams.
    • Maintain changing facilities and ensure essential disposables such as hair nets and shoe covers are adequately stocked.
    • Work collaboratively with agency workers and colleagues, encouraging adherence to hygiene and cleaning standards.
    • Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
    • Undertake any additional duties reasonably requested by management.
