About the Role
We are delighted to be recruiting for a Part-Time School Administrator / Receptionist to join a beautiful and well-regarded independent school set in a stunning location on the outskirts of Battle, East Sussex. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced administrator who enjoys working in a busy school environment and thrives on being the friendly, professional face of the school.
Working as part of a supportive and welcoming team, you will provide a high standard of administrative and reception support, ensuring the smooth running of the school's front office during the afternoon and early evening.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for parents, pupils, staff and visitors.
- Provide a warm, professional and welcoming reception service.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and deal with enquiries confidently and efficiently.
- Assist with the day-to-day administration of the school office.
- Maintain accurate student and administrative records.
- Update and manage information using the school's database / Management Information System.
- Input and maintain information accurately using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Produce letters, reports, correspondence and other documentation as required.
- Manage emails and respond to routine enquiries appropriately.
- Support staff with general administrative tasks.
- Assist with pupil signing-in/out procedures and other school office processes.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Ensure records and documentation are accurate and up to date.
- Work closely with colleagues to provide an efficient and friendly service.
- Undertake any other reasonable administrative duties required by the school.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working within a busy school reception or front office environment and will be confident managing a varied workload.
You will need to be:
- Friendly, approachable and professional, with outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Confident and professional when dealing with parents, pupils, staff and visitors.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Comfortable using databases and Management Information Systems.
- A confident computer user with good typing skills and accuracy.
- An excellent communicator with an outstanding telephone manner.
- Calm and professional when working in a busy environment.
- A reliable and committed team player.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and deal sensitively with information.
