Recruitment South East is working with a highly respected, cutting-edge engineering manufacturer to recruit a skilled Mechanical Assembly Technician to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-technology environment, assembling precision UHV manipulation and sample handling systems in a specialist cleanroom setting.
The Role
You will play a key part in building complex mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies to exacting engineering standards. Working within a UHV cleanroom environment, you will ensure high levels of quality, precision and traceability throughout the assembly and testing process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assembling mechanical and electrical components from detailed engineering drawings
- Specialist UHV-compatible wiring and electrical testing
- Recording pre-test data and carrying out quality control checks
- Maintaining strict cleanroom and UHV handling standards
- Supporting new product introduction (NPI) into production
- Creating and updating manufacturing documentation
- Maintaining accurate test records and product traceability
About You
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and technically capable individual who thrives in a precision engineering environment. You will ideally have:
- Experience in low-volume, customised manufacturing
- Knowledge of UHV-compatible instrumentation (highly desirable)
- An understanding of electron or ion optics principles (advantageous)
- Strong precision hand-fitting and specialist wiring skills
- Experience working to tight deadlines and quality standards
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Qualifications
- Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering or
- Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification or
- Time-served apprenticeship / Qualified by Experience (QBE)
Previous experience within a high-technology manufacturing or cleanroom environment would be beneficial.
