Residential Conveyancing Solicitor / Fee Earner

We’re working with a lovely, well-established law firm near Hailsham, East Sussex, who are looking for a conveyancing professional to join their close-knit team.

The Role

You’ll undertake your own fee-earning residential conveyancing work, managing a varied caseload from inception through to completion, while playing an important role in the continued success and development of the department.

Your caseload will include a broad range of residential property transactions, including:

• Sales and purchases
• Transfers of title
• New-build purchases
• Remortgages and discharge of mortgages
• Managing transactions from instruction through to completion
• Dealing directly with clients, estate agents and other professional referrers
• Keeping clients and relevant parties regularly updated by telephone and email
• Advising clients throughout the conveyancing process
• Supporting colleagues with fee-earning work, including file reviews, document checking and absence cover

Case Management & Compliance

You’ll also be responsible for ensuring your files are managed efficiently and in accordance with the firm's procedures and regulatory requirements.

This will include:

• Opening and closing case files
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records
• Monitoring key dates and ensuring deadlines are met
• Managing financial aspects of matters, including requesting monies on account and billing
• Liaising with the Accounts team in accordance with the Solicitors' Accounts Rules
• Ensuring compliance with mortgage lender requirements and relevant handbooks
• Maintaining matters on lender and panel management portals, including LMS and Lender Exchange
• Working in accordance with CQS and Lexcel standards
• Producing high-quality correspondence and documentation using Microsoft Office

About You

We’re looking for an experienced residential conveyancing professional who is confident managing their own caseload and enjoys building strong relationships with clients.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience handling a varied residential conveyancing caseload
• Strong knowledge of the conveyancing process from inception to completion
• Excellent client-care and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• A commercial and proactive approach to your work
• Good understanding of lender requirements and compliance
• The ability to work independently while also being a supportive team member
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
