An established and growing accountancy firm seeks a flexible part-time Accounts Assistant to support a busy portfolio. This opportunity offers 15–22 hours per week across three days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) with flexibility to spread over five days over time.

The successful candidate will support service charge accounting, tax work, and client delivery, contributing to the firm's growth and development. The role includes exposure to service charge accounts, company accounts, and trust tax, with a supportive working environment.

Duties
  • Prepare service charge accounts, collating records from managing agents and self-managed blocks.
  • Ensure all expenditure is correctly allocated to appropriate schedules and cost categories.
  • Review work completed by junior and trainee staff, ensuring accuracy before issuing drafts to clients.
  • Produce and submit dormant company accounts using IRIS software.
  • Prepare complete draft sets of service charge accounts in Excel for client review.
  • Verify invoices, ensuring correct client allocation and suitability for inclusion.
  • Manage a high volume of work across service charge accounts, company accounts and trust tax assignments.
  • Prepare trust tax returns, identifying applicable cases across the client base.
  • Support client communication, progressing to direct liaison as experience develops.
  • Assist with portfolio management, supporting senior staff with increasing client demand.
  • Contribute to workflow improvements and support operational efficiency as the firm continues to grow.
What We're Looking For

A successful candidate will have prior experience in an accountancy environment and/or strong service charge accounting experience. Candidates must live within a 45-minute commute of Brighton. Salary is dependent on experience; higher salaries can be discussed.
